Senior Java Software Engineer

About the role

Join Santander's Global Cards team as a Senior Java Software Engineer, responsible for designing, developing and delivering high‑quality software solutions for internal clients across the group.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable, high‑performance Java applications.
• Lead the implementation of complex technical solutions and system architectures.
• Integrate card applications with internal systems and external services.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship and code reviews to ensure quality, security and performance.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve production issues efficiently.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related field (preferred).
• Proactive attitude, strong communication skills and fluency in Spanish and English.
• Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum or Kanban).

Required skills

• Java programming language.
• Frameworks: Spring Boot, Quarkus.
• Microservices‑based architectures.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, OpenShift, Azure.
• Messaging systems: Kafka, RabbitMQ.
• Databases: PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Oracle, S3.
