Assistant Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will reconcile monthly balance‑sheet accounts, prepare journal entries and support the tax portfolio for Sol Jamaica SRL. This role ensures timely and accurate financial reporting and assists with compliance matters.

Key responsibilities

• Review coding of all journal entries and tax payable documents for completeness and compliance with the Manual of Authorities.
• Prepare monthly journal entries, record GCT, CIT, DIT calculations, and ensure timely submission to aviation terminals.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of GCT, Withholding Tax, Property Tax, and annual tax returns.
• Maintain and record tax liabilities in ERP systems and support month‑end close activities.
• Prepare account reconciliations, non‑trade reports, and debit/credit memos for AR transactions.
• Provide accounting assistance to the finance team and external auditors as required.
• Resolve discrepancies on assigned accounts and support special projects requested by management.
• Record work‑related injuries, illnesses, hazards and other incidents, and comply with HSE metrics.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CGA, AAT) with 3 years of experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with ERP systems and handle tax calculations and journal entry preparation.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for recording tax liabilities and journal entries.
• Strong knowledge of tax calculations (GCT, CIT, DIT, Withholding Tax, Property Tax).
