Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will join PremierWaste’s finance team in Kingston, Jamaica, handling day‑to‑day financial operations. This full‑time, on‑site position supports accurate reporting, cost control and strategic decision‑making for a leading waste‑management provider.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts on a regular basis.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Assist with payroll‑related financial entries.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis activities.
• Monitor expenses and revenues, identifying variances.
• Ensure compliance with Jamaican accounting standards, tax regulations and internal controls.
• Provide documentation and reports for internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with operations and management teams to deliver financial insights and improve cost efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with non‑finance stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and financial modeling.
• Knowledge of local tax regulations and internal control practices.
