Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the finance team in Jamaica. The role involves reconciling monthly balance‑sheet accounts, preparing journal entries and assisting with the company’s tax portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Review coding of journal entries and tax payable documents for completeness and compliance.
• Prepare and submit monthly journal entries and related reports to aviation terminals.
• Assist in the preparation and recording of GCT, Withholding Tax, Property Tax, CIT and DIT calculations in the ERP system.
• Support the timely filing and payment of annual tax returns and estimated income tax.
• Prepare account reconciliations, non‑trade reports and debit/credit memos for AR transactions.
• Provide accounting assistance to the finance team and external auditors, and help resolve discrepancies.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Or a foundation level qualification (e.g., ACCA, CGA, AAT) with at least 3 years of experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems.
• Experience in tax calculation and filing (GCT, CIT, DIT, Property Tax).
