Broker Clerk – Customs & Shipment Coordination

About the role
The Broker Clerk supports customs clearance and shipment handling by verifying tariff classifications, preparing documentation, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. This position ensures compliance with customs regulations and smooth flow of goods through the clearance process.
Key responsibilities
- Verify tariff classification and review assigned customs files.
- Submit required documents to customs authorities and follow up on their status.
- Maintain internal clearance logs, digitally upload and physically archive processed files.
- Coordinate with customers, airline/shipping line contacts, and broker coordinators to resolve issues and meet standard operating procedures.
- Create and post customs documentation on the web server and prepare billing templates for finance.
- Monitor shipment status, update company systems (Ops log & Cargo Wise), and track empty container returns.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints related to shipment handling.
- Detect and report non‑conformities to drive continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement).
- At least one year of experience in similar customs or logistics functions (preferred).
- Grade I Broker’s license.
- Basic knowledge of AFR & OFR operations, handling, documentation, and customs clearance.
- Good documentation practices.
Required skills
- Proficiency with MS Office.
