About the role
The Broker Clerk supports customs clearance operations by managing documentation, coordinating with internal teams and external partners, and ensuring compliance with customs and local regulations. This position is essential for smooth shipment handling and accurate tariff classification.
Key responsibilities
- Verify tariff classifications and assigned customs files.
- Submit documents to customs authorities and follow up on file status.
- Maintain internal clearance logs and archive both digital and physical records.
- Coordinate with customers, airlines, shipping lines, suppliers, and contractors to ensure compliant shipment handling.
- Create customs documentation, upload to internal systems, and post on the web server.
- Monitor shipment status, update Ops log and Cargo Wise, and manage empty container returns.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints related to shipments.
- Prepare billing information for the Finance department and scan invoices for archiving.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement).
- At least 1 year of experience in similar customs or logistics functions (desirable).
- Grade I Broker’s license.
- Basic knowledge of AFR & OFR operations, handling, documentation, and customs clearance.
Required skills
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Experience with Cargo Wise or similar logistics management systems.
