Community Communications and Engagement Officer

About the role

The Community Communications and Engagement Officer will strengthen Project STAR’s connection with local communities by designing and executing effective communication and engagement strategies. This position supports the dissemination of information that aligns with Project STAR’s mission to transform communities and reduce violence across Jamaica.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement community‑focused communication strategies that align with Project STAR’s objectives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local organisations and other stakeholders.
• Facilitate the flow of information between Project STAR and the communities it serves, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination.
• Promote inclusive and participatory community involvement in project activities.
• Support the collection and reporting of community feedback to inform project decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven experience in community communications, outreach or engagement.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of data‑driven problem solving and community‑based development approaches.
