Customs Broker Agent – Shipping & Clearance

About the role
The Customs Broker Agent is responsible for managing the end‑to‑end customs clearance process for inbound and outbound shipments. You will ensure compliance with customs regulations, coordinate with internal teams and external partners, and maintain accurate documentation throughout the workflow.
Key responsibilities
- Verify tariff classifications and assigned customs files.
- Prepare, submit, and follow up on customs documentation.
- Maintain internal clearance logs and archive both digital and physical records.
- Coordinate shipment handling with customers, airlines, shipping lines, and contractors according to SOPs.
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints related to shipments.
- Update broker coordinators on shipment progress and flag complex clearance issues.
- Create customs documents, post them on the internal web server, and support billing processes.
- Monitor shipment status in company systems (Ops log & Cargo Wise) and manage empty container returns.
- Detect and report non‑conformities to drive continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
- At least 1 year of experience in customs clearance or related logistics functions (preferred).
- Grade I broker’s license.
- Basic knowledge of AFR & OFR operations and good documentation practices.
Required skills
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Familiarity with Cargo Wise or similar logistics management systems.
