About the role
The Customs Documentation Clerk ensures that all import and export shipments comply with customs regulations and internal procedures. You will act as the liaison between airlines, shipping lines, suppliers, and internal teams to guarantee smooth handling of cargo.
Key responsibilities
- Verify tariff classification in customs files.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date internal clearance log.
- Ensure compliance with customs and local laws throughout the clearing process.
- Coordinate with airlines, shipping lines, suppliers and contractors to meet SOP and customer requirements.
- Create customs documentation and publish it on the web server.
- Request payment of duties and taxes from finance.
- Complete and submit shipment manifests.
- Monitor shipment status and update systems such as Ops log and Cargo Wise.
- Follow up with shipping companies on arrival notices.
- Submit export documents and liaise with customs brokers for clearance updates.
- Support physical dispatch of shipments when needed and deliver shipments to customers.
- Apply for required customs permits and vet customer invoices.
- Assist with Delivery Orders in the Port Community System (PCS).
Required profile
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in customs documentation or similar roles.
- Bachelor’s degree (any field).
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Basic knowledge of AFR and OFR operations, including handling, documentation, and customs clearance.
