Desktop Support Engineer – Dispatch / IMAC & Break/Fix

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to provide on‑site IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) and Break/Fix services for client locations in Kingston, Jamaica. This freelance, dispatch‑based role involves responding to service requests during business hours or as needed, handling equipment installations, moves, hardware replacements and troubleshooting.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and deploy desktops, laptops, monitors, printers and other peripherals.
• Perform workstation moves, hardware additions, replacements and decommissioning.
• Configure new user workstations and ensure proper cable management and labeling.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, OS and connectivity issues on desktops, laptops, printers, scanners and other peripherals.
• Conduct basic LAN/Wi‑Fi and network connectivity troubleshooting.
• Escalate complex problems to remote Level 2/Level 3 engineering teams.
• Provide onsite “smart‑hands” assistance following remote engineer instructions, including equipment checks, power cycling and device replacements.
• Capture completion details, asset information and site photos as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience in desktop, field or IT support roles.
• Hands‑on experience with IMAC and Break/Fix activities.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work independently at customer locations.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the Kingston area.

Required skills

• Windows operating system troubleshooting.
• Hardware installation, replacement and peripheral support (printers, scanners, monitors).
• LAN/Wi‑Fi and Ethernet cabling knowledge.
• Network connectivity troubleshooting.
• IMAC process execution.

What we offer

• Freelance, dispatch‑based assignments on an as‑required basis.
• Compensation: USD $20 per hour, USD $70 per half‑day, USD $110 per full‑day.
• On‑site work at various customer locations in Kingston.
