General Accounting Officer

About the role

KPMG Jamaica’s Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS) is expanding its finance function to support the General Accounting process for KPMG United States. The General Accounting Officer will work within the JESS delivery centre in Kingston, handling day‑to‑day ledger activities and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain balance‑sheet related general ledger accounts and perform routine analyses.
• Research, prepare, and post journal entries (reclassifications, reversals, and routine entries) from a centralized mailbox.
• Conduct daily follow‑up on low‑complexity balance‑sheet and expense accounts.
• Process fixed‑asset maintenance transactions.
• Prioritize work to meet deadlines and update documentation as processes evolve.
• Perform quality‑assurance reviews of simple to moderate accounting work.
• Interact with stakeholders and other departments as needed.
• Implement policy and procedural changes directed by the client and local management.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• One to two years of practical accounting experience.
