Kitchen Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead daily operations of our school‑based food service kitchens, ensuring high‑quality meals, compliance with safety standards, and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor food preparation and presentation to maintain quality and sanitation standards.
• Investigate and resolve food‑quality or service complaints to promote customer satisfaction.
• Coordinate daily meal preparation and transportation to satellite buildings.
• Conduct daily safety and production meetings with kitchen staff.
• Supervise, train, cross‑train and certify all kitchen stations, delegating workflow as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas.
• Ensure compliance with Opaa! recipes, menu plans, HACCP, HHFKA, CACFP, and local health regulations.
• Track timekeeping using ADP and adhere to the company’s timekeeping policy.
• Submit food and supply orders, manage inventory using FIFO principles, and maintain accurate production records.
• Perform daily tray counts, reconcile reports, and ensure meals are reimbursable.
• Communicate regularly with building principals and hold weekly update meetings.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising kitchen staff in a large‑scale food service environment.
• Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, HHFKA, and CACFP meal patterns.
• Ability to train and certify staff across multiple kitchen stations.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory and production reporting.
• Effective communication skills for interaction with school administrators and district staff.
