Machinist – Manufacturing & Fabrication Specialist

About the role

The Machinist will join a manufacturing team to assemble, fabricate, and modify components and equipment. The role involves close monitoring of mill operations, ensuring the availability of rolls and spare parts, and maintaining high safety standards in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, fabricate, and modify mechanical components and equipment.
• Monitor mill status, track rolls, and manage spare‑part inventories.
• Operate both manual and computer‑controlled machinery, including CNC equipment.
• Run machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, grinders, benders, hydraulic presses, and drill presses.
• Use metrology instruments to perform precise measurements and verify tolerances.
• Apply knowledge of metallurgy and material science to select appropriate materials.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and work rotating shifts, overtime, and on‑call as required.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Maintenance, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Advanced skills in fabricating and component design.
• Strong understanding of machine tolerances, fits, and metrology.
• High level of safety awareness and ability to work in hot, dusty, confined spaces.
• Excellent time‑management, interpersonal, troubleshooting, and diagnostic abilities.
