Authorizations Coordinator

About the role

The Authorizations Coordinator manages the end‑to‑end prior authorization and referral process for patient services, ensuring requests are accurately initiated, tracked, and completed according to payer requirements and medical policies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review, and process prior authorization and referral requests promptly.
• Initiate, track, and follow up on authorization requests from submission through final determination.
• Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements.
• Work within EMRs, payer portals, and platforms such as Availity.
• Communicate with providers, insurance representatives, and internal teams to gather documentation and resolve issues.
• Maintain accurate logs of cases, pending documents, and outcomes.

Required profile

• 1–3+ years of experience in prior authorizations, medical billing, or revenue cycle management.
• Strong knowledge of insurance verification, payer requirements, and authorization workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer‑focused approach.
• Ability to manage high‑volume case loads while meeting productivity targets.

Required skills

• Experience with Availity or similar authorization platforms.
• Proficiency using EMR systems and payer portals.
• Familiarity with CPT coding and ICD‑10 diagnosis codes.
• Microsoft Office suite – Excel, Outlook, Teams.
