General Manager – Engineering & Operations

About the role

The company seeks an experienced General Manager to lead its engineering, project, maintenance and operational functions. This senior leader will drive growth, profitability and high‑performance delivery of engineering projects while ensuring strong financial controls and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for engineering, project, maintenance and operational activities.
• Develop and execute strategies to increase revenue, profitability and sustainable business development.
• Oversee planning, execution, commissioning and handover of engineering projects, monitoring performance, costs, billing, WIP and gross profitability.
• Lead sales and customer‑development initiatives, including quotations, tenders and strategic engagement.
• Manage technical and administrative staff through performance objectives, coaching and training.
• Prepare regular financial, operational, project and management reports for executive leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive engineering, technical operations or project‑management experience with significant management responsibility.
• Proven experience leading technical or engineering teams and managing customer relationships.
• Strong commercial orientation with experience supporting sales, business development or revenue growth.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, planning, negotiation and decision‑making skills.

Required skills

• Project costing, budgeting, WIP and profitability monitoring.
• Preparation and review of technical quotations, tenders and commercial proposals.
• Use of standard productivity and project‑management reporting systems.
