Payroll Officer

About the role

The Payroll Officer will join KPMG Jamaica's Jamaica Extended Support Services (JESS) team, providing back‑office payroll support to KPMG United States. Working in a hybrid model, the role involves processing payroll transactions, handling tax updates and supporting off‑cycle payments in a fast‑paced, paperless environment.

Key responsibilities

• Process regular and off‑cycle payroll payments, adjustments and deductions.
• Calculate and issue over‑ or under‑payments, final wages for terminated employees and state‑specific payments.
• Update employee tax records based on state and federal tax forms.
• Prepare and distribute over‑payment notices and manage recovery actions.
• Review HR audit reports, determine required actions and monitor the payroll mailbox for timely responses.
• Process one‑off transactions, W‑2C adjustments and tax balance updates.
• Prioritize work to meet strict daily deadlines and ensure accurate completion of tasks.
• Collaborate with other JESS departments to maintain accurate and timely payroll operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent professional accreditation.
• Minimum two years of experience in a payroll environment or a similar process.
• Ability to work in a hybrid setting, spending at least five days per month on‑site.
• Comfortable working in a paperless, information‑system‑driven environment.
• Willingness to work extended hours periodically or on public holidays.
