Accountant

About the role

SecureWorld Corporation, a security services group operating across the Caribbean, is expanding its finance team in Jamaica. You will work closely with the Financial Controller, handling the full accounting cycle from daily transactions to month‑end reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Post month‑end journals, including accruals, prepaids, payroll, and reclassifications.
• Reconcile bank, AR, AP, statutory liabilities, GCT and loan accounts.
• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
• Support payroll preparation for approval by the Financial Controller.
• Maintain the AR aging report, issue invoices and follow up on overdue balances.
• Assist with statutory filings (SO1‑PAYE, NHT, NIS, Education Tax, GCT returns, income tax schedules).
• Contribute to budget preparation and the annual audit.
• Supervise the Accounting Clerk with guidance from the Financial Controller.

Required profile

• ACCA Level III or equivalent progress toward Chartered Accountant status (completed qualification is an asset).
• 2–4 years of accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of IFRS and Jamaican statutory and payroll requirements.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organisational skills.

Required skills

• QuickBooks proficiency.
• Experience with payroll software.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office skills.
• Understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
