About the role
The Budget Officer will work in the Office of Administrative Services of the International Seabed Authority in Kingston, Jamaica. Reporting to the Director of OAS and under the guidance of the Deputy Secretary General, the role provides strategic financial management and advisory support to senior management.
Key responsibilities
- Advise senior management on financial management, budget stewardship and performance analysis.
- Develop and apply budgetary policies, costing methodologies, variance analysis and performance reporting.
- Lead the budget formulation process, including results‑based budgeting, cost‑benefit analysis and preparation of draft administrative budgets.
- Analyse departmental budget submissions, consolidate proposals and prepare performance reports for regular and voluntary funds.
- Provide secretariat services to the Finance Committee and support governing bodies in budgeting and accounting matters.
- Monitor budget implementation, conduct comparative and variance analyses, and prepare analytical information for budget justification.
Required profile
- Proven experience in strategic financial management and budgeting within an international or public‑sector context.
- Strong analytical skills to assess financial implications of business scenarios and policy decisions.
- Ability to coordinate multi‑departmental budget processes and communicate findings to senior leadership.
