Chief Engineering Manager

About the role

The Chief Engineering Manager will report to the Managing Director and lead the technical oversight of building development projects across the island. The role involves reviewing proposals, conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with building specifications, and providing expert engineering advice to support the organization’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and evaluate building development proposals and conduct site inspections.
• Perform condition surveys of FCJ’s properties and infrastructure.
• Prepare terms of reference, specifications, and evaluate Bills of Quantities for procurement.
• Review and recommend designs submitted by consultants, and develop civil/structural solutions as needed.
• Manage procurement processes, tender documentation, and ensure statutory compliance.
• Coordinate with consultants and contractors, monitor contractual obligations, and oversee project schedules.
• Conduct economic appraisals and strategic financial planning for projects.
• Represent FCJ at stakeholder meetings and site visits.

Required profile

• BSc in Civil Engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience administering engineering projects.
• Advanced training in Project Management or Engineering.
• Post‑graduate degree in a structural engineering specialization.
• Strong knowledge of Jamaican building regulations and statutory requirements.
