Communications and External Relations Officer

About the role

The Communications and External Relations Officer will join the Latin America and Caribbean Communications team at the World Bank’s Jamaica Country Office. Reporting to the Senior Communications and External Affairs Officer for the Caribbean, the role supports the Bank’s mission to promote development, share knowledge, and shape public debate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing and delivering strategic communications that align regional priorities with global objectives.
• Engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including media, civil society, private sector, donor countries, and international organizations.
• Support the creation and dissemination of content across traditional and digital channels, including social media.
• Contribute to reputation risk management and the promotion of the World Bank’s development results.
• Utilize innovative engagement tools such as artificial intelligence and data‑driven platforms to enhance outreach.

Required profile

• Professional experience in communications, public affairs, or external relations, preferably within an international development context.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; French is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively with regional teams and adapt messages to diverse audiences.
• Based in Kingston, Jamaica, and able to operate under the guidance of senior staff.
