Social Work Lecturer – Academic Position

About the role

Trench Town Polytechnic College is seeking a dynamic, student‑centred Social Work Lecturer to join its academic team. The role involves delivering high‑quality teaching, supporting student development, and contributing to community‑focused research and outreach.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials and practical learning activities in Social Work.
• Develop and regularly update course materials, lesson plans, assessments and other instructional resources.
• Facilitate classroom, blended and online learning experiences.
• Provide academic advising, mentoring and support to students.
• Assess student learning and deliver timely, constructive feedback.
• Support work‑integrated learning, field placements and community‑based activities.
• Contribute to curriculum development, programme review and quality assurance.
• Participate in departmental and institutional committees and academic activities.
• Engage in applied research, scholarly activities and community outreach.
• Establish and maintain relationships with social service agencies and community organisations.

Required profile

• Master’s Degree in Social Work or a closely related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Diploma in Education/Teaching or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Relevant professional experience in Social Work or a related human services field.
• Demonstrated experience teaching or facilitating adult learners at the tertiary level.
• Strong knowledge of social work theory, practice, ethics and contemporary social issues.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and digital skills.
• Evidence of professional development, research, community engagement or scholarly activity is an asset.
