Assistant Director of Nutrition Services

About the role

The Assistant Director of Nutrition Services (DNS) supports the Director of Nutrition Services in the daily operation of an Opaa! Food Management account. This role combines production, compliance, administrative, supervisory, and client‑relationship tasks to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective food service delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Arrange substitute staffing, transport food products across district sites, and cover on‑line staff duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized office and kitchen environment while promoting Opaa!’s core values.
• Ensure compliance with Opaa! recipes, menus, and HACCP temperature monitoring; keep production records for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Prepare monthly in‑service meetings, NAC meetings, and marketing activities in line with Opaa! guidelines.
• Input invoices, reconcile daily cash reports, update inventory spreadsheets, and consolidate weekly food orders.
• Assist in coordinating catering events and special programs.
• Support the DNS in managing staff schedules, performance issues, training, and certification.
• Maintain open communication with customers, prepare status reports for the Board of Education, and assist with marketing events.

Required profile

• Experience in food service or nutrition operations, preferably within an educational setting.
• Ability to manage staff schedules, resolve performance issues, and train kitchen personnel.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for record‑keeping and compliance reporting.

Required skills
