Broker Clerk – Customs Documentation & Shipment Coordination

About the role

The Broker Clerk is responsible for managing customs documentation and ensuring smooth shipment handling from entry to delivery. This role supports both internal teams and external customers by verifying tariff classifications, processing files, and maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Verify tariff classifications and assigned customs files.
• Submit required documents to customs authorities and follow up on file status.
• Maintain internal clearance logs and archive both digital and physical records.
• Coordinate with customers, airlines, shipping lines, and contractors to ensure compliance with SOPs and customer requirements.
• Handle customer enquiries and complaints related to shipment handling.
• Create customs documentation, upload to internal systems, and post on the web server.
• Prepare billing information for the Finance department and scan invoices for archiving.
• Monitor shipment status, update company systems (Ops log & Cargo Wise), and track empty container returns.
• Detect and report non‑conformities to drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (minimum requirement).
• At least one year of experience in similar customs or logistics functions (desirable).
• Broker’s license.
• Basic knowledge of AFR and OFR operations, including handling, documentation, and customs clearance.
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail.
