Child Protection Specialist (Legal & Policy Frameworks)

About the role

UNICEF's Caribbean Multi-Country Office (MCO) is recruiting a Child Protection Specialist (Legal & Policy Frameworks) in Kingston, Jamaica, on a fixed-term appointment (NOC, Level NO-3). The specialist belongs to the Protecting Children from all forms of Violence working group, which aims to strengthen child protection systems and shift harmful social and gender norms. The role strengthens child protection legal, policy, regulatory and budget frameworks across the MCO.

The specialist reports to the Assistant Representative, P4, responsible for protecting children from all forms of violence in Georgetown, Guyana, and works closely with the Deputy Representative (programme coordinator), P5, in Kingston.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialized technical expertise in child protection law and policy reform across the MCO.
• Align legal and policy frameworks with international standards and improve the availability and quality of services, including MHPSS in contexts of violence.
• Contribute to prevention, detection and child-centred response models across social protection, justice, education and health systems.
• Engage in Caribbean-level legislative and judicial dialogue from the MCO's governance centre.
