Legal Officer – Corporate and Infrastructure Legal Division

About the role

IDB Invest, the private‑sector arm of the Inter‑American Development Bank Group, is seeking a Legal Officer for its Corporate and Infrastructure Legal Division. The role supports non‑sovereign guaranteed (NSG) operations across the transaction cycle, from origination to post‑deal management, within a rapidly expanding investment portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice throughout project teams, covering origination, eligibility, due diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiation, documentation, closing and disbursement of NSG lending, guarantees and technical cooperation activities.
• Advise on moderate to complex portfolio administration matters, including amendments, waivers, restructurings, workouts and litigation of impaired assets.
• Coordinate with Investment Officers, Credit Risk, ESG and Portfolio Management groups to ensure efficient deal execution and post‑deal monitoring.
• Support the drafting and regular updating of model financing documentation.
• Identify creative legal solutions for NSG operations of varying complexity.
• Collaborate with attorneys from other multilateral development institutions on complex legal issues.
• Stay informed of emerging legal trends relevant to development finance.
