Assistant Accountant

About the role

Sol Jamaica SRL is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support its finance team in Jamaica. The role focuses on month‑end accounting activities, tax compliance, and liaison with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Review coding of journal entries and tax‑payable documents for completeness and compliance.
• Prepare and post monthly journal entries, and distribute relevant reports to aviation terminals.
• Assist with GCT, Withholding Tax, Property Tax, CIT and DIT calculations and record the related entries in the ERP system.
• Support the timely filing and payment of annual tax returns and estimated income tax.
• Ensure compliance matters are addressed, including renewal of TCC when required.
• Prepare account reconciliations, non‑trade reports, and debit/credit memos for AR transactions.
• Provide accounting assistance to the finance team and external auditors, resolve discrepancies, and aid the month‑end close.
• Participate in HSE reporting and record work‑related incidents.
• Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting with at least 3 years of relevant experience, OR a foundation level of a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CGA, AAT) with 3 years of experience.
