Claims Examining Officer – Group Life & Insurance

About the role

Join Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited’s Claims Management team as a Claims Examining Officer. You will evaluate death, disability and accident claims for Group Life, Group Mortgage and Personal Accident portfolios, ensuring payments align with contract terms.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret policy contracts for claims under guidance of senior staff.
• Provide guidance to clients, beneficiaries, and brokers on claim forms and benefits.
• Assist brokers with claim processing information, settlement details, and overall claim submission procedures.
• Verify coverage with Group Insurance Administrators before processing claims.
• Prepare settlement letters, inform clients, and record payments in the Group Life Web Application.
• Prepare monthly work reports and submit to the Group Life Unit Supervisor.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Nursing or related field from a recognized tertiary institution.
• AHIP and LOMA Parts 1 & 2 certifications.
• At least one year of experience in the life insurance industry in a similar role.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of Group Life, Health and Mortgage insurance products.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Good time‑management and customer‑service abilities.
