Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support our chefs at Chez Maria Restaurant in the Barbican area of Kingston. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast‑paced restaurant environment and wants to develop practical kitchen skills.

Key responsibilities

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with daily food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, portioning and storing ingredients.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, equipment and work areas.
• Help receive, store and rotate food supplies following proper procedures.
• Follow food safety, sanitation and hygiene standards at all times.
• Support dishwashing and general kitchen duties during busy service periods.
• Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Supervisor.
