Mental Health Psychosocial Support Lead (Jamaica)

About the role

Americares is seeking a senior professional to lead the Mental Health Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) program across Jamaica. The role combines field implementation, partnership management, and capacity‑building to ensure safe, accountable psychosocial services in disaster‑affected and routine settings.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, implementation and quality assurance of MHPSS activities, including Psychological First Aid trainings and staff wellbeing initiatives.
• Supervise, mentor and support MHPSS officers, consultants and partners, ensuring compliance with Americares policies and grant requirements.
• Develop and maintain referral pathways, community engagement strategies and coordination mechanisms with government, health sector and NGOs.
• Monitor program performance, analyze data, and produce reporting and learning products for donors and internal stakeholders.
• Represent Americares in national and regional humanitarian coordination forums and contribute to strategic planning.

Required profile

• Active MHPSS licensure in good standing with the Jamaica Council of Professions Supplementary to Medicine (CPSM).
• Graduate degree in psychology, counselling or a closely related field.
• Proven experience designing, implementing and supervising MHPSS interventions, preferably in disaster or humanitarian contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage grants, budgets, workplans and compliance requirements.
• Unrestricted Jamaican work authorization.
