Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Assistant Accountant to join our finance team in Jamaica. The role supports the Accountant in month‑end close, tax compliance and daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile assigned balance‑sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring they are approved and posted in line with company policies.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of GCT, Withholding Tax, Property Tax, CIT and DIT calculations.
• Support the timely submission of tax returns and estimated income tax payments.
• Maintain compliance documentation and assist with TCC renewal when required.
• Prepare monthly non‑trade reports and account reconciliations.
• Generate debit and credit memos for AR transactions.
• Provide accounting assistance to the finance team and external auditors.
• Help resolve discrepancies on assigned accounts and support month‑end close activities.
• Record workplace incidents and comply with HSE metrics.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting **or** a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CGA, AAT) with at least 3 years of relevant experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems for journal entry processing and tax recording.
