Assistant Accountant

About the role

Sol Jamaica SRL is seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance team in Jamaica. The role involves reconciling balance‑sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, and assisting with the company’s tax portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Review coding of journal entries and tax‑payable documents for completeness and compliance.
• Prepare monthly journal entries and distribute relevant reports to aviation terminals.
• Assist in the preparation and recording of GCT, Withholding Tax, Property Tax, CIT and DIT calculations.
• Support the timely filing and payment of annual tax returns and estimated income tax.
• Maintain accounts reconciliations, non‑trade reports, and debit/credit memos for AR transactions.
• Provide accounting assistance to auditors and resolve discrepancies on assigned accounts.
• Help the Accountant with month‑end close, special projects, and HSE incident recording.

Required profile

• University degree in Accounting with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or a recognized accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CGA, AAT) with 3 years of experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP accounting systems.
