Attorney at Law – Full-time (Jamaica)

About the role

CP Attorneys is looking for a qualified Attorney‑at‑Law to join its Jamaica office on a full‑time, on‑site basis. The successful candidate will handle a diverse caseload across the firm’s practice areas, working independently and collaboratively with colleagues in Jamaica, the Cayman Islands and other jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive legal research and analyse statutes, case law and regulations.
• Draft, review and prepare pleadings, affidavits, contracts, legal opinions and other documents.
• Prepare matters for court, including evidence review, case strategy development and documentation.
• Represent clients at hearings, trials, mediations and other legal proceedings.
• Negotiate settlements and assist with alternative dispute resolution.
• Maintain accurate, organised case files and documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues across jurisdictions and contribute to internal process improvements.
• Support client relationship management and business development initiatives.

Required profile

• LL.B. or Juris Doctor (JD) from a recognised institution.
• Admission to practice law in Jamaica (and preferably in the Cayman Islands).
• Proven ability to provide legal advice, conduct research and manage cases independently.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with clients, courts and other stakeholders.
• High standards of professional conduct, confidentiality and ethics.
