Data Engineer

About the role

Barita Investments Limited is looking for a Data Engineer to design, build and operate secure, scalable data platforms that support reporting, analytics, regulatory obligations and emerging AI use cases.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy and monitor end‑to‑end data pipelines using Python, SQL, Bash/Shell scripting and APIs.
• Build and optimise data warehouse schemas and tables to meet business objectives.
• Collaborate with analysts and business SMEs to create efficient data warehouse objects for reporting and analytics.
• Discover data sources, define ETL approaches, implement data cleansing rules and perform data mapping.
• Ensure data is accurate, timely, traceable and governed throughout its lifecycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of experience designing, building and maintaining data warehouses.
• 3+ years of experience developing advanced ETL/ELT pipelines and data integrations.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Highly proficient in SQL (complex queries and ETL jobs).
• Python programming (asset).
• Bash/Shell scripting.
• Experience with relational databases and data lakes (MySQL, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake, etc.).
• Data modelling for transactional and dimensional warehouses.
• Knowledge of APIs and data integration tools.
