Freight & Collection Agent

About the role

The Freight & Collection Agent is responsible for handling customer payments on behalf of Carib Star Shipping Limited and ensuring accurate record‑keeping of all financial transactions related to shipping services.

Key responsibilities

• Collect daily payments from customers and issue receipts immediately.
• Prepare daily lodgments for armored courier collection and bank deposits.
• Create a daily Batch Control record for supervisor approval.
• Monitor client accounts, reconcile advance payments, clear outstanding invoices and flag exceptional items.
• Scan and upload Cargo Release forms for detention and security charges to customer accounts each day.
• Dispatch invoices for credit customers within 24 hours of cargo validation.
• Manage petty cash, disburse payments against approved vouchers and maintain accurate cash records.

Required profile

• Four CXC/GCE O‑Levels with passes in Accounts, English Language and Mathematics.
• At least one year of experience in a similar collections or cash‑handling role.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
