Loan Recovery Officer

About the role

JN Small Business Loans Limited, part of The Jamaica National Group Limited, is recruiting a Loan Recovery Officer for its Half Way Tree location (Region 8). The role covers the administration and management of current loan receivables, especially accounts that are or are likely to become difficult to collect or seriously delinquent. It works in close consultation with the Client Relations Manager (CRM) to recommend, coordinate and review collection techniques and to negotiate repayment plans for delinquent borrowers.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare documentation for collections and repossessions to be handed to bailiffs.
• Recommend the use of bailiffs or the initiation of legal proceedings, and manage the administration of bailiffs.
• Conduct collection activities in each location within the region at least four times per month, with targets set by the CRM.
• Identify accounts to be assigned to bailiffs when they cannot be collected directly.
• Manage the seizure, storage and sale of repossessed items.
• Monitor clients' compliance with arrangements to settle loan balances.
• Report on the number and value of loans assigned to bailiffs and on collection performance for assigned clients.
• Draft memos communicating fees such as bailiff and repossession charges to be added to client accounts.
• Report on changes and challenges in the micro-finance collection environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
• At least two years of experience selling and servicing small business credit.
• Owns a reliable motor vehicle.
• Detail-oriented, analytical and inquisitive, able to work independently and with others.
• Proven management and organizational skills, strong adaptability and ability to work in fast-paced environments.
• In-depth understanding of organizational data flow and its use in management decisions.
