Power Plant Mechanic - Cogeneration

About the role

Grupo SAMPOL, a group active in energy and digital transition, is looking for a Power Plant Mechanic to support the reliable, safe and efficient operation of its cogeneration power plant in the Caribbean. The role covers mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis and coordination with plant operators.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and systems in the cogeneration plant.
• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair pumps, valves, compressors, motors, gearboxes and similar equipment.
• Support maintenance and repair of turbines, boilers, heat exchangers and associated plant systems.
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Assist with equipment installation, testing, commissioning and planned shutdowns.
• Maintain maintenance records, inspection reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinate maintenance with plant operators and other technical teams.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, environmental standards and company policies.

Required profile

• Jamaican citizenship.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a cogeneration power plant.
• Knowledge of mechanical maintenance, fault diagnosis and preventive maintenance practices.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals and maintenance documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills, and good communication, teamwork and organisational skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality and operational efficiency.
• Availability to work shifts, overtime, planned shutdowns and emergency repairs when required.
