Senior Underwriter - Construction Loans & Private Equity Funding

About the role

King Capital Group Inc. is a specialized financial services firm focused on construction loans, private equity funding and financial instruments, with a focus on disciplined underwriting and risk management. It is hiring a Senior Underwriter for a full-time, on-site position in Kingston, Jamaica. The role evaluates, structures and approves construction loan and private equity funding requests in line with company policy and risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, structure and approve construction loan and private equity funding requests, ensuring alignment with company policies and risk appetite.
• Review financial statements, credit histories, collateral documentation and project feasibility analyses to determine creditworthiness and appropriate terms.
• Prepare underwriting reports and recommendations, and take part in credit committee discussions.
• Monitor existing portfolios, identify early risk indicators and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Support process improvements, mentor junior underwriting staff and help refine underwriting guidelines and models.

Required profile

• Strong underwriting experience in construction loans, real estate finance or private equity funding, with proven ability to assess complex transactions.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business or a related field; an advanced degree or professional certification (e.g. CFA, FRM) is an asset.
• Experience mentoring or guiding junior team members is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience in Caribbean or emerging markets financial environments is beneficial.

Required skills

• Advanced financial analysis and credit risk assessment, including review of financial statements, cash flow models and collateral valuations.
• Knowledge of financial instruments, lending regulations and commercial lending and private capital markets best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail and sound judgment under pressure.
