Treasury & Accounting Officer

About the role

The Jamaica Mortgage Bank is looking for a qualified Treasury & Accounting Officer to lead its treasury and investment activities, manage cash‑flow planning, and oversee the construction loan portfolio. The role combines strategic investment management with day‑to‑day accounting and reporting responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance of the investment portfolio with established policies.
• Coordinate placement, renewal and encashment of investments, calculating interest income and negotiating with brokers.
• Prepare weekly and six‑month cash‑flow forecasts and track fund availability.
• Calculate interest income, record related journal entries, and manage construction loan disbursements.
• Produce monthly reports on construction loan balances and ageing.
• Conduct quarterly expected credit loss reviews and adjust the general ledger accordingly.
• Record loans, bonds and other borrowings, calculate monthly interest expense, and ensure timely repayment.
• Monitor compliance with loan covenants and report to financing partners.
• Prepare withholding tax schedules, liaise with Tax Administration Jamaica, and support annual budgeting and financial reporting.
• Assist external auditors by providing schedules and required information.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent; ACCA Level 2 completed.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience, including at least three years in treasury management and accounting.
• Experience in banking, mortgage financing or other regulated financial institutions is an asset.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and high integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
• Solid understanding of treasury operations, investment management and general‑ledger accounting.
