Accounting Manager

About the role

Veta Virtual is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function for a fast‑growing roofing and construction company. This fully remote position oversees the full‑cycle accounting for residential, commercial and federally funded projects, providing financial insight that drives strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Own the complete accounting cycle, including reconciliations, month‑end and year‑end close, and financial reporting to leadership.
• Manage job costing and work‑in‑progress schedules, analyzing profitability trends across multiple projects.
• Execute percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition and progress billing for all project types, ensuring compliance.
• Lead integration and optimisation of external applications with QuickBooks Online.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, expense management, subcontractor payments and vendor interactions.
• Maintain compliance for federally funded projects, including certified payroll and prevailing wage documentation.
• Coach and guide accounting support staff as the team expands.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow planning.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies and procedures as the business scales.

Required profile

• 5–7+ years of accounting experience with U.S. companies, including full‑cycle ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to make financial decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
• Experience with construction or roofing industry accounting is preferred.
• CPA certification strongly preferred.
