Accounting Officer – Real Estate Accounting

About the role

Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited is seeking an Accounting Officer to support the Real Estate Accounting function within its Group Corporate Accounting team. The role focuses on maintaining accurate general ledger records for managed properties and ensuring timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Create and post accounting entries for property transactions to the general ledger.
• Update trial balances and reconcile supporting schedules for Voyager and Sun properties.
• Analyze accounts and book accruals for utilities, cleaning, and other property expenses.
• Liaise with Accounts Payable, Operations Units, and other stakeholders to resolve reconciling items.
• Ensure monthly posting of interest income, bank charges, and related items.
• Prepare and file GCT returns for Sigma Properties.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or ACCA Level II (or equivalent).
• Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and general accounting practices.
• Familiarity with the Companies Act and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with spreadsheet applications (e.g., Excel).
• Proficiency with word processing tools (e.g., Word).
• Understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience using computerized accounting systems.
