Chief Operations Officer

About the role

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) reports directly to the CEO and leads the operational delivery of events and productions for The Special Events Group. The role transforms approved strategies and client work into safe, cost‑conscious, high‑quality events across Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the end‑to‑end operational delivery model, from secured business handover through mobilisation, execution, close‑out and post‑event review.
• Provide direction and performance management for the Client Services Manager, Logistics and Operations Manager, AVL Manager and other operational leaders.
• Ensure each event has clear ownership, realistic execution plans, confirmed staffing, approved scope, budget, safety requirements and contingency arrangements.
• Develop senior relationships with key clients, oversee high‑value or high‑risk events, and strengthen event‑management standards.
• Direct labour planning, transport, equipment allocation, warehousing, inventory readiness and AVL (audio, visual, lighting) operations.
• Set and monitor operational service standards, delivery metrics, and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Project Management, Industrial Engineering or related field; postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, project delivery, logistics or technical production within a fast‑paced, service‑led environment.
• Proven success leading complex delivery teams, improving operating systems, managing risk, controlling costs and strengthening accountability.
• Experience in events, production, logistics, hospitality, construction, media or similar complex delivery environments is strongly preferred.
• Strong financial literacy, commercial judgement and people‑leadership abilities.
