Freight & Fleet Coordinator

About the role

The Freight & Fleet Coordinator plans, coordinates and controls freight and fleet operations so that transportation is safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective. The role optimizes the use of vehicles and contractors, ensures timely deliveries and good customer service, and strengthens road safety by preventing and controlling transportation risks.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the level of haulage contractors covering market deliveries and depot operations, and evaluate freight rates paid in each area of the island
• Carry out daily direct deliveries to customers on time
• Own the company's fleet performance and maintenance
• Implement the five global road safety initiatives: fatigue management, rollover prevention, safe sites, vehicle safety features and protection of vulnerable road users
• Run the driving academy for truck drivers in the raw materials and cement segments, and carry out mechanical inspections of the fleet twice a year
• Keep a log of daily safety inspections and monitor plant turnaround time
• Monitor speed-limit violations by the company fleet and third-party fleets
• Submit monthly reports on freight savings, kilometres per segment and progress on vehicle safety features
• Manage relationships with haulage contractors and investigate truck incidents with the H&S team and occasionally the Security team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics and freight management
• Experience in logistics management and transportation, and in managing hauling contractors
• Schedule flexibility

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of road safety
• Leadership and team coordination, ability to multitask
• Experience with SAP is an asset
