Battery Ambassador

About the role

Berts Auto Parts Jamaica is looking for a Battery Ambassador in Kingston to join its team and help manage the safe handling, storage and distribution of batteries. The role involves safety inspections, charging schedules, maintenance and liaison on deliveries, and is offered as a two-year time-limited position.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out safety inspections of the facility and minimise risks of battery receipt, storage and dispatch, reporting and fixing needed repairs.
• Run the scheduled charging of battery units and update the relevant records.
• Maintain equipment assigned to the battery area and make sure it is operated according to standard guidelines.
• Log and report all accidents and incidents in the battery area.
• Receive incoming shipments by doing second counts and checks.
• Segregate damaged and suspected batteries from good ones and report them to the Branch Supervisor or Branch Manager.
• Liaise with suppliers for prompt and timely delivery of batteries ordered for delivery.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Electrical/Automotive Maintenance/Business Administration.
• 3+ years of experience handling batteries.
• Knowledge of warehouse and distribution management procedures and best practices.
• Willingness to work at a fast pace, for long hours, on weekends, and to lift, push or pull 50 lbs or more; warehouse environment.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
