Assistant Manager, Procurement and Logistics

About the role

F.T. Farfan (Jamaica) Limited is recruiting an Assistant Manager (Procurement and Logistics) for a full-time, on-site position in Kingston, Jamaica. The role provides timely information and documentation to support the Logistics Department in ordering goods and managing their inbound and outbound movement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare purchase orders and expedite them from suppliers to receiving locations
• Supervise logistics staff and assist in coordinating their training
• Liaise with customs brokers, suppliers, shipping, freight, courier and other providers to clear and move goods
• Arrange competitive freight rates and obtain the best mode of transport and costs
• Prepare documentation for warehouse and inventory departments to receive shipments and update internal order status
• Monitor and report key performance indicators for the Logistics Department
• Ensure marine insurance coverage and that customs duties, import taxes and handling charges are paid
• Coordinate insurance and import claim investigations and assist with export shipments by courier, air or sea
• Assist with local and staff purchases and queries about imports from other internal customers
• Review and improve systems and procedures with the Manager - Logistics, maintain ISO standards and follow HSE policies

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Supply Chain Management or CIPS Level 6
• At least 5 years' experience in a similar capacity and 2 years as a supervisor
• Legal authorization to work in Jamaica; relocation costs are the candidate's responsibility

Required skills

• Working knowledge of logistics and supply chain management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP software
• Working knowledge of shipping and customs procedures is an asset
• Attention to detail, excellent communication, customer service, problem-solving and ability to work with minimal supervision
