Freight Clerk

About the role

The Freight Clerk will coordinate shipment handling with customers, airlines, shipping lines and internal teams, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures and customer requirements. This role supports both air and ocean export operations, monitors shipment status, and assists with billing and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with customers, airlines, shipping lines, suppliers and contractors to ensure smooth shipment handling.
• Handle customer enquiries, complaints and cargo pre‑claims, and report progress to the Operations Lead.
• Prepare billing templates, scan invoices, and process payment requests for vendors.
• Monitor shipment status, update Ops Log and Cargo Wise, and manage empty container returns.
• Create job orders, enter data into Ops Log/Cargo Wise, and file shipping documents.
• Detect and report non‑conformities to drive process improvements.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
• Brokers license and basic knowledge of AFR & OFR operations, handling, documentation and customs clearance.
• Strong attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Experience using Cargo Wise system.
