Loans Officer – Microfinance

About the role

Monaire Financial Services is expanding island‑wide as a modern, digitally enabled microfinance institution. We are looking for a motivated Loans Officer to evaluate, approve and manage micro‑loan applications, helping clients achieve their goals while safeguarding our portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Guide applicants through the loan process, explain products, assess needs and collect documentation.
• Conduct client interviews and due‑diligence to evaluate creditworthiness and character.
• Analyze financial statements, cash flows and business viability to prepare loan proposals for the credit committee.
• Disburse approved loans and ensure clients understand terms and repayment schedules.
• Monitor loan portfolios, follow up with borrowers and support timely repayments.
• Provide financial guidance and promote financial literacy among clients.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in microfinance, retail banking, credit analysis, sales or community lending in Jamaica.
• Strong understanding of credit principles and risk assessment for small businesses and individuals.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with a customer‑centric approach.
• Ability to work independently in the field, organized and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Valid Jamaican driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel within the country.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with loan management software.
