General Manager - Issa Hotels and Resorts

About the role

Couples Resorts is hiring a General Manager for its Issa Hotels and Resorts property in Montego Bay. The General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the property, reporting to the Director of Operations, and leads the team in delivering an exceptional guest experience, maintaining brand and quality standards, and reaching financial and operational goals. The role also covers employee engagement, health and safety, sustainability and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage annual budgets, monitor financial performance and implement plans to improve results.
• Maximise revenue through pricing, inventory management and local promotion initiatives, and manage costs to improve efficiency.
• Deliver personalised guest service, oversee complaint resolution and service recovery, and act on guest feedback to build loyalty and positive online reviews.
• Recruit, coach and evaluate staff, foster engagement and ensure compliance with labour laws and company policies.
• Hold regular team briefings, run inspections and audits, and ensure management follows company guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements, maintain emergency procedures and train staff on safety.
• Promote employee wellness and sustainable practices, stay informed on hospitality trends and host guest events such as breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktail events.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or a related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in luxury all-inclusive hotel management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated success in financial management, revenue optimisation and operational leadership.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and strong leadership and strategic-planning abilities.
• Flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and physical stamina for standing, climbing stairs and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors and speaking to small and large groups, including with a microphone.

Required skills

• Proficiency in hotel management software and systems.
• Knowledge of hospitality trends, service standards and industry best practices.
