Lead EV & Hybrid Diagnostic Technician

About the role

The Lead EV & Hybrid Diagnostic Technician performs advanced vehicle diagnostics, repairs, inspections and quality checks in a Service Centre, acting as technical lead and mentor to Mechanics and Apprentice Technicians. The role covers mechanical, electrical, electronic, hybrid, electric vehicle and computer-controlled systems, and aims to minimise vehicle comebacks and maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics with scan tools and test equipment, and diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, electronic, hybrid, EV and European vehicle systems
• Inspect vehicles, prepare repair recommendations and parts requirements, and carry out final quality checks and road tests before delivery
• Coach and guide Mechanics and Apprentice Technicians, and support them technically
• Explain faults, repair options and costs to customers and resolve their technical enquiries
• Maintain workshop cleanliness, safety standards and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment
• Monitor recurring faults and comebacks, and recommend improvements to productivity and quality
• Work on Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, following safety procedures and supporting Dongfeng Hybrid and Electric Vehicle servicing

Required profile

• JAGAS Level III Motor Vehicle Repairs certification or equivalent
• At least 10 years of automotive repair experience and 3 years in a senior or supervisory technical role
• Proven experience with professional diagnostic scan tools
• Preferred: experience on Hybrid and EVs, European brands (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, VW, Land Rover, Jaguar, Porsche), dealership or overseas experience, Dongfeng or Chinese/Japanese brand experience, and EV/Hybrid certification or manufacturer training
• Monday to Saturday availability, with possible extended hours, Sundays and public holidays
