Operations Technician - LNG Terminal

About the role

Excelerate Energy is recruiting an Operations Technician for its Old Harbour LNG terminal in Jamaica. The role monitors gas supply to customers and gas process parameters to ensure safe operations and meet commercial demand, and works closely with the FSRU Operations Technicians. The terminal operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so weekend and public holiday shifts are required.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor gas supply to customers and gas process parameters, and report suspected abnormalities or downstream process changes to the FSRU
• Assist the Assistant Terminal Manager and PIC in compiling and reviewing the daily gas reports, and report gas out of specification immediately
• Open and close valves for system operation and mechanical pipeline isolation, and respond to alarms and malfunctions
• Take part in shutdown and startup procedures and be ready for emergency response at all times
• Complete daily operational checklists, record shift actions in the logbook, and follow the HSSEQ Manual and equipment O&M manuals
• Understudy the Assistant Terminal Manager, attend safety meetings and toolbox talks, and help develop O&M manuals, site procedures and work plans
• Process visitors according to the terminal's visitors procedure and assist in jetty-side mooring operations

Required profile

• Knowledge of marine terminals, ship-shore interface, ship operations and cargo transfer
• Understanding of HSSEQ concepts, hazard identification and risk management
• Extensive operational and maintenance experience with shoreside facilities and/or LNG carrier and offshore oil and gas operations
• STCW Operational Level Class II/1 for deck officers or equivalent university degree
• Demonstrated training and competence in computer applications, excellent written and oral communication
• Eligible to work in Jamaica without sponsorship; sponsorship is not offered
