Technical Officer / Draughtsman – Kingston

About the role

Tourism Product Development Co., under the supervision of the Civil Engineer/Project Manager, is seeking a Technical Officer / Draughtsman in Kingston. The officer provides architectural assistance and draughting services to prepare project documents for tourism projects and supports sustainable tourism development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan graphic presentations of designs according to established drafting procedures
• Produce design, construction and as-built drawings, develop sketches into working drawings and details from concept to construction documents
• Prepare drawings, construction layouts, negatives and blue prints
• Collaborate with government and non-government representatives on project implementation
• Conduct schematic preliminary studies, site analysis and data collection
• Analyze building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements
• Take part in site visits, design reviews and cost build-up with the Quantity Surveyor
• Estimate completion times accurately and coordinate with the project team
• Revise drawings for changes and ensure safety procedures are reflected in installation and construction drawings

Required profile

• Degree in Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent
• Five years' experience in manual draughting and five years' experience in computer-aided design (CAD)
• Or an equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
• Good knowledge of building codes and a proven track record of successful draughting and project documentation

Required skills

• Excellent computer skills and data analysis applications
• Excellent knowledge of infrastructure and building business science
• Working knowledge of structural, mechanical and electrical engineering is a plus
• Excellent knowledge of Autodesk products (AutoCAD, AutoCAD Architecture, Revit, SketchUp) and Google Earth
